UNIQUE RECORD AS AN INTERNATIONAL BLOOD DONOR
An ardent crusader of the Voluntary Blood Donation Movement since his student days in 1970, Mukesh is a Centurion Blood Donor, having himself donated blood for 151 times. He holds the unique record of having donated his blood in over 25 countries around the globe. In appreciation of his outstanding contribution and dedicated services for this noble humanitarian cause, he was presented the ‘British Red Cross Salutation – The Cup of Joy & Life.’

For the Past Over 50 Years, Mukesh Patel has rendered commendable services in the nurturing of the Voluntary Blood Donation Movement and thereby carved a niche for the Ahmedabad Red Cross in the Successful Branding and Promotion of Ahmedabad as the Blood Donation Capital of India!
His contribution to Red Cross stands out as unique, with his several creative, pioneering and trail blazing initiatives, which have received wide acclaim and appreciation. Some of the noteworthy mentions in this regard include:
- Conceptualizing the innovative and eye-catching Mascots for branding and promotion of the Ahmedabad Red Cross Blood Program, ‘Sherdil’ – Champion Torch Bearer of Blood Donation and ‘Caredil’ – Visionary Trail Blazer for Blood Transfusion.
- Launching the first of its kind Motivational Theme Songs, instilling Pride for Blood Donation, Raktadaan Gaurav Gaan in Gujarati and Hindi.
- Penning Lyrics for the Inspirational Song in English, ‘Let’s Care and Share and Make Life a Celebration,’ aimed at championing the causes of Blood and Organ Donation.
- Setting up the Red Cross Navratna Activity Hubs and Clubs, for undertaking the wide range of meaningful and vibrant activities at the Ahmedabad Red Cross.
- Conceiving the Creative Showcasing of Blood-o-pedia, Thalas-e-media, Navaah and Jeevan Utsav, unique, impactful initiatives, successfully set up at the Ahmedabad Red Cross Shatabdi Bhavan.
MONUMENTAL PRESIDENTIAL TERM FOR OVER A DECADE
Mukesh Patel served as President of the Ahmedabad Red Cross from 2001 to 2012, during which he pioneered several novel initiatives of Red Cross Services, winning several laurels and unique recognition and goodwill for the Indian Red Cross Society in the spheres of Blood Donor Motivation, Collection & Transfusion and Thalassemia Care, Awareness and Prevention.
The Blood Donor Recognition and Award Functions organised by the Ahmedabad Red Cross through his meaningful insights and innovations have not only instilled a distinct sense of pride and fulfilment in every Blood Donor, but also earned an inimitable brand equity for Ahmedabad in the sphere of Voluntary Blood Donation.
As a mark of recognition at the all India level, the Ahmedabad Red Cross Blood Program was awarded the Coveted Recognition as the Best Blood Centre in India alongwith a Prize of Rs.50 Lakhs by National Headquarters of the Indian Red Cross Society in commemoration of its Centenary Celebrations (1920 – 2020).
ANCHOR ROLE IN CREATION OF RED CROSS SHATABDI BHAVAN
Pursuant to his nomination as Chairman Emeritus of Ahmedabad Red Cross in 2021, he played the anchor role in envisioning and successfully shaping the Creation of the Ahmedabad Red Cross Shatabdi Bhavan, with 35,000 sq. feet of Quality Infrastructure on a Spacious Land of 1,500 sq. yds., planning and mobilising financial resources of around Rs. 40 Crores.
With its Star Attractions and Pioneering Initiatives for Championing the Cause of Blood & Organ Donation, the Shatabdi Bhavan has come to be acknowledged as India’s Largest and a World Class Blood Centre, with State-of-the-Art Facilities.
COVETED HONOUR OF PRESIDENT OF INDIA’S GOLD MEDAL
More than 50 Years of Dedication to the Red Cross and his Vision for a Mission with Passion to Champion the Causes of Voluntary Blood Donation, Quality Blood Transfusion and Thalassemia Care, Awareness and Prevention, earned Mukesh Patel, the coveted honour and recognition of being awarded the President of India’s Red Cross Gold Medal for 2023-24.
